We went camping again this weekend as the weather was just fantastic. I have a sunburnt face and arms. The sun was shining brightly and the girls enjoyed running around in shorts and T-shirts. This camping trip was eventful to say the least but had a very good ending. We started off by driving to Laugar in Saelingsdalur, it is in the west part of Iceland. We had camped there once before and loved it. We spent a very lovely evening but around midnight there was already a lot of noise from a group of young people who were also camping at the campsite. I must tell you I don´t mind people drinking, chatting and having fun but I think people should stick to the camping rules and tune their noise down at midnight. This group of young people carried on screaming and shouting, playing music very loudly and just being a pain in the ….. They didn´t stop until 6 o´clock in the morning and Runar and I didn´t sleep a bit that night. The girls were disturbed as well but did get some sleep in between. Johanna got up at 7 o´clock for the day so that wasn´t a lot of rest we got. We decided to try to make most of the day in spite of everything and drove around sightseeing most of the day, having picnic in the nature, went swimming and visited a festival in Holmavik. We came back around 5 o´clock in the afternoon and upon arrival we saw that the group of young people from the night before had just got bigger. Runar decided to go to the camping manager to complain about the noise from the night before and to find out if they were going to control the noise the following night. He got back with the answer “there is nothing we can do, we are outnumbered”. After seeing 8-9 carloads of young people turning up to join the group we decided that we had had enough. The noise was building up and the majority of the group was getting wasted with drinking. So we got a refund and packed up and left. During our sightseeing we had seen a lovely little camping site at Reykjolar next to the swimming pool we visited. It was only about 1 hour drive away so we decided to go there. At 11 o´clock we had camped again and had a quiet rest of the evening. We had a good night sleep with no interruption at all and woke up around 9 o´clock when Johanna Brynja decided it was time to start the day. We went swimming again and spent the afternoon playing outsite and going for a walk. And packet up and went back home late in the afternoon. I am enclosing some pictures from the weekend.
