Today we are celebrating, it is the National Day of Iceland. There are parades and entertainment all over Iceland and guess what, the sun is shining and it is actually warm outside.
Rúnar (my DH) took the two older girls with him last friday to visit his parents. They live in Vestmannaeyjar a small island just off the south coast of Iceland. We had been planning this visit for a couple of weeks but the girls didn’t know anything about it. I packed their bags when they were asleep on Thursday evening and we put it in the car without them seeing it. After work on Friday we told them that we were going for a drive, Friðbjörg Lilja had already spotted the bags in the car and thought we were going camping. LOL You should have heard them on the way trying to figure out where we were going. They finally figured out when we made the turn from the main road to the airport. They flew with a small airplane from a very small airport called Bakki. I heard from them today and they are having such a great time. Rúnar’s niece has boys the same age as the girls and they get along so great. Today is also my mother-in-laws birthday. They are staying with them until Saturday/Sunday.
I have been staying at home with Jóhanna Brynja and we are really enjoying it too even though we miss a little the rest of our family. Today we are invited to lunch with my parents. Then we are planning to go to the parade and check out some of the entertainment offered. 🙂
I’ll be back later tonight with some stitchy pictures.
